Hi, I'm Kamal Nayan

I'm Kamal Nayan Kumar, a final-year B.Tech student in Data Science & AI at IIIT Dharwad (class of 2027). I like building things that are useful, scalable, and ambitious, mostly around AI agents, LLMs, and full-stack systems.

I interned as an AI Engineer at HobbyFi, shipping production agents used by real businesses: a receptionist that answers on WhatsApp and voice calls, a copilot that reads business data and performs guarded write actions, a morning-brief agent, and a self-serve landing-page builder.

Outside work I build things like Campus Saathi, a RAG-powered campus assistant that answers multilingual questions straight from college documents, and I train models from scratch, like a 114M-parameter transformer (~3B tokens) fine-tuned for question generation. I've also shipped a video-generation pipeline that turns any topic into a narrated 1080p video. I've also competed in hackathons: runner-up at Hack Maze 2025 and 3rd at Vidyutvega 2025.

When I'm not shipping, I'm usually exploring new technology and figuring out how I can use and try it in my projects, and upskilling in AI and software.
